Cine Sisters SW (CCSW) has joined the Exeter Phoenix Associate Artists scheme, and to celebrate, we will be hosting a full day of events, screenings, workshops and surgeries aimed at filmmakers working in the region.

There will be virtual gatherings and in-person, socially distanced activity. Plus,a special screening will take place in the solar-powered cinema Studio 74 at 8.15pm.

Open: Short Film Screening: 8.15pm | LIVE and ONLINE|*FREE*

Celebrate the re-opening of Exeter Phoenix, with a focus on the filmmaking prowess of womxn living in Devon and Cornwall. Our screening will exhibit a curated selection of short films, which respond to the theme of ‘OPEN’. All films shown were submitted following a call for new and existing artist films, and have been selected by a panel of Cine Sisters SW (CCSW) Directors. Our screening will also include a selection of CCSW Directors and members films.

Online Artist’s Talk With Olga Koroleva: 5.30pm-7pm *FREE*

Olga Koroleva is an artist-researcher-forager-lecturer based in London and works with recorded and live media, photography, and writing. Since 2016 she has been working within the field of animal theory and is the founder of the international peer-group The Political Animal.  

Join Cine Sisters South West and Olga as we delve into and discuss her current practice which includes a speculative multi-species storytelling project themed around the notion and practice of healing, a supernatural love story performance and video project with a scent narrative, a research project focused on recognition of more-than-human personhood and cetaceans, and an exploration of vegetal worlds and how plants can help visualise hidden disability.

Cine Sisters SW: One to One Virtual Surgeries

 

Wed 26 May | *FREE* | 30 minute sessions | 2pm - 4pm

 

We are offering free, informal, one-to-one surgeries aimed at filmmakers and those working with moving image.

This is chance to meet and talk with industry experts working across a range of areas. You can ask questions, gather inspiration and talk through your current projects.

30 minute zoom sessions can be booked with either Barbara Santi (Awen Productions), Jonas Hawkins (Exeter Phoenix), Blackbark Films, or filmmaker Lois Norman.
